Black and White children’s photographer
Ahead of the full post of images from a recent session at Haughton Hall I thought I would start by showing ‘just one’.
Sometimes a simple and impromptu opportunity for some fun shot leads to something that runs much deeper. Grown ups as well as kids love chasing bubbles. It brings out the excitement in us all - who can’t help but giggle chasing after a stream of soapy bubbles floating off into the sky?
This images encapsulates everything I love about thoughtful children’s photography. It is obviously childhood moment, a simple moment. But the simple composition and clean background gives this image presence. It really is a standalone portrait. I would love an image like this of my daughter but replicating it or forcing it would feel wrong.
A portrait session, for me, is a window into your world. Moments that are individual through expressions, reactions, moments. That is why I so enjoy the natural, documentary coverage alongside the ‘to camera’ images. Just for a moment our true spirit is free. Then moments like this happen.
The black and white tonal range of this image will look stunning in print. I started out my professional photography career being solely a black and white children’s photographer. The majority of my clients choose B+W imagery for impact and longevity. It will never date.
