Fine Art Wedding Photography

I would like to share with you an image from a wedding which has resulted in three subsequent couples booking me to photograph their big day. I love talking about this image as, for me, it sums up perfectly what documentary fine art wedding photography is all about. The bride and groom are greeting their family and guests after their marriage ceremony and in the queue of happy people I noticed the bride’s Grandfather. Earlier in the bridal preparations I had overheard the bride talking affectionately about her Grandfather so I had already established that they had a very close bond. I made sure that I was in position with my camera ready for their interaction which was so beautiful that I can remember it still. What makes this particular image is not just the composition and the light, most of all it is the pure emotion and sense of isolation between two people who utterly adore each other. The tender hand of a Grandfather and the closed eyes of a bride savouring that special moment.

Utterly priceless.

What a beautiful shot, the hands tell nearly as much of the story as their faces. Beautifully observed!
